 Back by popular demand! We haven't produced a striated lambskin A-2 since 1986 and thought it was high time we rectified this. "Striated" lambskin starts with the finest French lambskin available: it's extremely soft, supple and substantial too (not like the paper-thin lambskin you might find in a "fashion" leather jacket). The lambskin is then hand-stretched to achieve its unique striated appearance. This results in a wonderfully "grainy" and rugged-looking jacket, each with its own distinctive characteristics (so no two jackets will look exactly alike). The leather is also designed to age rapidly as you wear it, giving the jacket that proper "vintage" look!
Features include two front cargo pockets with side-entry handwarmers, snap-down collar, epaulets, an interior pocket, nylon lining, antiqued brass zipper, and knit cuffs & waistband.

The leather is from the same tannery that supplied the leather to the studio to create the on-screen jackets worn by the star of the 2008 movie featuring that famous fedora-wearing archaeologist. This leather, which duplicates the look of the movie leather, is a very soft chocolate brown cowhide and features a variety of graining, scuffs, range marks and distressing to give it an authentic "vintage" look. The jackets are not churned out on an assembly line, but are handcrafted from handpicked hides to ensure the utmost quality. Other features include: two front snap-flapped cargo pockets with side-entry handwarmers, bi-swing back for freedom of movement, adjustable side straps for a custom fit, top & bottom snaps on the windflap, and an inside pocket. The Cockpit® Vintage Goatskin G-1

This outstanding Cockpit® jacket is a superb reproduction of a 1950s Korean War-era US Navy G-1, and each jacket is individually hand-distressed for an authentic "aged" look. Generally, the finish on new military-issue goatskin G-1s was quite durable and did not distress rapidly with wear (unlike the finish on many contemporary lambskin jackets). Accordingly, the distressing on this jacket is very subtle -- just a hint of wear along the waistband & cuffs and along various seams -- which adds that slight patina of age that an actual vintage G-1 would have. In addition, the goatskin leather has that supple "broken-in" feel of a truly veteran jacket!
The fur collar is a genuine '50s-era collar in the same medium brown color as the collars on the WWII M422s and early G-1s. Other authentic features include the genuine '50s-era bidirectional single-ply waistband, extra-long double-ply cuffs, a narrow wind flap with "USN" perforation, underarm gussets and bi-swing back for freedom of movement, heavy-duty zipper, two front cargo pockets featuring the correct '50s-era pocket flaps (which had a more "pointed" bottom edge, unlike the more rectangular-shaped flaps of later G-1s), an inside map pocket, and a nylon lining. In keeping with military authenticity, there are no side-entry handwarmer pockets and the fit is military (not full-cut or oversized).
There are also nine original patches (2 in front, one on each sleeve, and 5 on the back) that trace the career of a naval aviator during the 1950s and include Heavy Attack Wing 2 (whose motto translates to: "We will find a way, or we will make one"), VAH-2 Sky Warriors (a USN A-3 Heavy Attack Squadron; the "M" on the "tori" gate indicates Detachment M), Task Force 77 USS Ticonderoga (TF77 is the carrier strike force of the US 7th Fleet), HATRON TWO ("Heavy ATtack squadRON TWO" -- Det M of VAH-2 operated off the USS Ticonderoga from Sept '57-Apr '58), Task Force 77 USS Philippine Sea (CVA-47 was the flagship of TF77 during the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950), VC-6 "Fleurs" (a composite squadron formed in 1950, it was redesignated VAH-6 in '56 and transitioned to Skywarriors in '58), and a US Seventh Fleet patch (whose motto is "Ready Power For Peace").
This is one of the finest jackets we've seen and is a true collector's item. The level of authenticity, craftsmanship and attention to detail in this American-made G-1 is outstanding and you're guaranteed to turn heads whenever you wear it! Made in the USA.

We also offer The Cockpit® Vintage Goatskin G-1 without patches. This jacket is styled like the earlier M422s/G-1s from WWII, Korea and late-60s Vietnam. The jackets are individually hand-distressed for that authentic "aged" look and features a vintage medium brown collar, vintage bidirectional single-ply waistband, extra-long double-ply cuffs, a narrow wind flap with "USN" perforation, underarm gussets and bi-swing back for freedom of movement, heavy-duty zipper, two front cargo pockets featuring the correct vintage-style pocket flaps, an inside map pocket, and a nylon lining. In keeping with military authenticity, there are no side-entry handwarmer pockets and the fit is military (not full-cut or oversized).
This G-1 is a great "blank canvas" for adding your own USN or USMC patches (especially original vintage patches*), or wear it as is. Either way, this authentic American-made vintage-style jacket is one of the finest we've seen and one you'll be proud to be seen in! Made in the USA.
*Many customers who've purchased this jacket have an authentic vintage G-1 (either from their own service days or one that was handed down to them from a loved one) which no longer fits. The Cockpit® Pearl Harbor

The "Pearl Harbor" portion of this jacket's name is a bit of a misnomer since this jacket is not a reproduction of the standard military-issue horsehide A-2 commonly worn by USAAF pilots at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack. Instead, it is an accurate reproduction of the type of A-2s that were custom-made in China for pilots of the American Volunteer Group (the AVG or Flying Tigers). These jackets were made from lightweight lambskin leather and were meant for warm weather wear. The AVG Flying Tigers were originally formed as a volunteer fighting group prior to December 7 1941 so they did not "officially" represent the US Military and their flight clothing was often not official US Military-issue.
This jacket faithfully replicates those custom A-2s from the early 1940s. The "washed" antique lambskin leather is extremely light in weight and very supple, requiring absolutely no break-in period. It features the slim fitting body & sleeves common to A-2s of that era and the lambskin has a variety of subtle scuffs, color variations & range marks to enhance its rustic "weathered" appearance. Other features include a snap-down collar, two exterior cargo pockets with side-entry handwarmers (which was a popular & often requested custom feature since military-issue A-2s from that era lacked any sort of side pockets), three interior pockets, 100% cotton lining, one piece back, knit cuffs & waistband, an embroidered American Volunteer Group "chit" sewn onto the lining (another popular custom feature among AVG pilots), stitched-down epaulets and an antiqued brass zipper.
This is an outstanding A-2 in every way and its light weight makes it a year 'round garment! Color: russet brown. Made in the USA.

This classic G-1 jacket has been recreated in beautiful hand-aged antique cowhide! The leather's subtle color variations, variety of graining and naturally occurring attributes add character to this jacket, giving it the look of an authentic vintage garment. The hides are hand-picked, hand-assembled & hand-aged, so no two jackets will look exactly alike. The jacket is based on the WWII pattern and features include a mouton fur collar, two front cargo pockets with a hidden pen slot under the left pocket's flap (note: this jacket does not have side-entry handwarmer pockets), bi-swing back for freedom of movement, knit cuffs & waistband, an interior pocket, inside windflap with "USN" perforation, and a heavy duty antiqued brass zipper. The rich golden satin nylon "Wings of Gold" lining features a fully embroidered Naval Aviator wing and the Navy Flyer's Creed silkscreened beneath it.
